Cougar® Vibration Ball Vibrators are engineered to be maintenance free, with only one moving part. Offering durability and ruggedness, Cougar Ball Vibrators effectively operate in extreme cold and heat up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as in dirt, dust and water.
Relying on simple design, compressed air forces a chrome steel ball around bearing grade races, allowing the ball vibrator to produce an easy-to-use source of vibration. Any of the 18 models of Air Ball Vibrators can be installed by simply bolting into position; once installed, they can operate immediately. The speed and force of the vibrator can be adjusted by regulating air supply. To enable quiet operation of less than 80dB, Cougar® Vibration Ball Vibrators have tapered exhaust ports for mufflers or for exhaust removal.

BH Series Pneumatic Piston Vibrators
The model BH industrial vibrator for bins and hoppers incorporates a nominal piston and bore. During operation, compressed air is alternately directed from one end of the piston to the other through a series of internal ports. The piston is the only moving part, which makes a pneumatic piston vibrator a reliable, low maintenance device. The bin vibrator housing is a one-piece, ductile iron casting. This adds to the durability and reliability of NAVCO® Pneumatic Piston Vibrators. The action of the piston in the NAVCO® industrial vibrator generates high amplitude vibration with unidirectional, or linear, force vectors.
High amplitude characteristics of the BH industrial bin vibrators enable the vibrating energy to be transmitted in the capacity required to overcome the strength of the bulk material involved in a bridge (arch) or a rathole (pipe) inside of a bin or hopper. Other advantages of high amplitude, linear vibrators include low utility consumption and minimum bin wall stress.
Two Key Factors Promote the Flow of Bulk Solid Materials: MATERIAL STRENGTH AND SLIDING FRICTION:
The linear vibration of NAVCO® industrial bin vibrators offers the following advantages:
- The energy generated by the vibrator can be directed normal, or perpendicular to the flow of the bulk material to address a specific material flow problem. The vibrator energy is used very efficiently to reduce the sliding friction angle of the hopper and to overcome the the strength of the bulk material in the hopper.
These two factors are key to promoting the flow of bulk solid materials.
- Vibrators that generate linear vibration do not develop high shearing forces at the bin wall. This allows a simple, more direct approach to mounting the vibrators and causes less stress to the bin wall.
- Linear vibration is ideal for driving vibratory feeders and compaction tables too.
BH Series - Model Types
IGO (Impacting) The IGO model develops a high amplitude repetitive impulse when the piston strikes the base of the bore sharply on each cycle. The piston is air cushioned at the head plate on the upward stroke. Momentum and energy are transmitted efficiently through the bin wall and into the material by each elastic collision between the piston and the vibrator base. The repetitive impacts enable the vibrator to affect material over a large "area of influence" overcoming the bulk material strength and reducing the wall friction angle.
SGO (Silent) The SGO model generates a sinusoidal output by creating an air cushion at each end of the piston stroke. NAVCO® Silent Pneumatic Piston Vibrators are ideal when noise levels are a concern and are effective in applications involving non-cohesive free flowing materials where a slight increase in energy is required to initiate or maintain flow. The silent units are also ideal as drives for vibratory tables and feeders.
IGT* (Timed Impacting) Timed impact models deliver a single high amplitude impulse each time it is energized. NAVCO® Timed Impact units may be operated using a pneumatic or electronic timer, programmable controller, or any other device that can deliver an intermittent control signal to the unit. The impulse of a timed impact unit is very effective in evacuating hoppers and process vessels.Specific advantages of NAVCO® Timed Impact units are low noise levels and very low air consumption.
