Railcar Vibrators - Hopper Car Portable Vibrators (HCP Model)

NAVCO® manufactures a complete line of portable pneumatic hopper car vibrators for rail car and other portable industrial applications. The Navco HCP model vibrator is designed to provide reliable and effective performance in difficult applications and severe environments. The HCP's special features make it ideal for solving Heavy-Duty railcar unloading problems.

HCP hopper car pneumatic vibrators are ideal for unloading dry bulk material from bottom dump railcars. The universal mounting head of the HCP fits all dovetail brackets found on hopper cars. The HCP rail car vibrator does not cause damage to railcars like hydraulic vibrators do.

Features and Benefits

  • All internal surfaces of the Hopper Car Portable Vibrator are coated with Teflon for durability and long life.
  • Universal mounting head on the railcar vibrator- fits ALL dovetail brackets found on hopper cars.
  • Our "Free-Ride"design is THE most efficient means to transmit vibration energy into the railcar. Also prevents the HCP from becoming stuck in the bracket of the hopper car.
  • Reduces unloading time - reduces carryback
  • Low air consumption - saves money
  • Reduces material build up at the outlet opening of the railcar
  • Eliminates damage to the hopper car from sledge hammering
  • Eliminates dangerous scraping of interior walls from on top of the railcar

Railside Car Shaker - Electric or Pneumatic models

The NAVCO Railside Car Shaker is a permanently mounted vibration system designed to speed the loading and unloading of bulk material from railcars. The high-amplitude / low frequency vibratory energy developed by the drive mechanism has proven most effective in producing positive and complete material movement. The Railside Car Shaker is very useful in loosening material from the walls of the rail car. The unit can be operated from a remote location, and can easily be integrated into an automated process – requiring little to no operator invention and is available in both electric and pneumatic models.

The Rail Hugger is engineered to give you the most advanced alternative to today's railroad track scales. The low-profile scale adapts to (or will be custom-made for) any combination of car lengths.

Because it is mounted above ground in a shallow, concrete foundation, there is no worry about shifting ballast resulting in weight errors. As a result, maintenance is minimized and precious track time is rarely interrupted. That translates into money saved.

Various types of weight displays and printers are available to complete your railroad scale. They include: simple or complex electronic weight displays and printers, scoreboard readouts, traffic controls and other custom weighing systems.

With the Rail Hugger, installation is rapid and simple, allowing you to get back on track fast. Weighbridge sections arrive assembled, ready to set in, and Cardinal's load cell assemblies are easy to install, just drop them in place and level. Installation can be handled locally and usually requires only about two days.

Railcar Openers

The weight of the railcar's cargo load against the discharge gate makes the gate very hard to open.

Railcar Openers use compressed air to provide powerful force to open even the most stubborn gate, improving the efficiency and safety of unloading operations.

GATE JACK Railcar Gate Opener
Eliminate strong-arm tactics with the GATE JACK Railcar Gate Opener. This air-powered wrench provides up to 1700 ft-lb. (235 kg-m) of torque to open the most stubborn hopper gate.

One-Man Operation
No need for labor gangs or cheater bars with the compact, powerful GATE JACK Railcar Gate Opener.

Fast Opening Means Efficient Railcar Unloading
Spot the car, open the gate, and start unloading. There's no time wasted trying to muscle the gate open.

Efficient Air Use
Operates from an 80 to 125 psi (5.5 to 8.5 bar) air supply at 70 cfm (1982 L/m).

Comes Complete
Supplied with hoses and hand-held control valve.

Railcar Openers power open the stubborn car-bottom gates, reducing safety risks for personnel and improving unloading efficiency.

BOOT-LIFT Railcar Connectors funnel material to the under-track system to prevent wind loss and eliminate the safety hazard of requiring workers to crawl umder the car.

Railcar Vibrators boost the flow of materials compacted by long-distance travel.

Railcar Opener

Improve railcar unloading efficiency with the Railcar Opener. This rugged air-powered unit opens railcar hopper gates, without gang tactics, without stoop labor or crawling under the car, without damage to gate or mechanism, and without excessive noise.

Opens Toughest Car Gates
Railcar Opener powers open the most stubborn hopper car gate with 2700 ft-lb (3661 N-m) of torque at 90 psi (6.2 bar).

Moves to Maintain Contact
Pivoting wheels allow unit to maintain contact with traveling capstan of rack and pinion gate opener on hopper cars.

Controlled Force Prevents Damage
Smooth, non-impacting force opens gates without costly damage.

Efficient and Quiet
Operates from 90-120 psi (6.2 to 8.2 bar), air supply at 20 cfm (566 L/min). Noise measured at 95 dBA at operator position is acceptable for plant operations.

One-Worker Positioning
Adjustable base allows one worker to maneuver wheeled cart through tight spaces. Height-adjustable unit fits any ground condition beside track.

BOOT-LIFT® Railcar Connector

The BOOT-LIFT® Railcar Connector installs between the rails to improve the unloading of railroad hopper cars. Dual air-over-hydraulic lift cylinders push the sponge seals securely to the hopper car unloading gates, to provide a clean transfer of material. BOOT-LIFT® Railcar Connector improves efficiency and safety of your railcar unloading process.

No More Wind-Blown Material
Boot prevents material loss, air pollution, and contamination.

No More Crawling Under Railcars
Boots are automatically connected.

Maintains Seal Automatically
Connector rises as railcar empties.

Low Air Requirement
Unit uses only 10 cfm at 90 psi (28 l/min. at 6.2 bar).

Models To Suit Any Car
Including double- or single-pocket, round-opening and GATX. Adapter plates allow interchangeability. Custom engineering available.

BOOT-LIFT® Vertical Connector

Installed in an unloading pit, the BOOT-LIFT® Vertical Connector can be used for railcar or truck unloading. It uses dual air-over-haydraulic vertical lift cylinders to raise boots into position under the loaded vehicles. The BOOT-LIFT® Vertical Connector's increased flexibility allows it to mate well with trucks.

Clean Unloading
Boot prevents material loss and contamination.

Improves Safety Practices
No more personnel in the pit to connect the vehicle to the material handling system.

Built-In Adjustment
Floating top simplifies vehicle/railcar spotting.
